In the beginning, there was the vineyard...

And the father said, “Either you take care of it, or I will clear the vineyard!”

Without much hesitation, we decided to save the vineyard from being cleared. Finally, we had the chance to create wines entirely according to our visions and completely without objection! Thus, we began to shape the vines and their surroundings according to our ideals. From the very beginning, we wanted to promote nature and its living beings rather than high yields. We allow wild herbs and plants to thrive in the vineyard rows throughout the year, so that all living beings feel at home there.

In 2020, we began cultivating the Rivaner located in the Reil district. Since we were constantly asked by our acquaintances, “Do you have Riesling? Because Riesling belongs to the Mosel!!” we expanded in 2021 and acquired a vineyard on a steep slope with Riesling grapes. This vineyard is located across the river, on the other side of the Mosel, in the Burger district of Hahnenschrittchen.

Even in the cellar, during vinification, we focus on the highest care. Before the grapes are pressed, we ensure that only healthy grapes are harvested. After pressing, the must settles for at least the next 24 hours. This allows us to separate the clear juice for fermentation from the cloudy portion of the must. Since each vintage is different, and we have decided not to add any extra sugar to the must and only add tartaric acid if necessary, we usually harvest later in the autumn. Each vintage is developed differently and individually. The individual wines are initially tasted sensorially. To determine which batches harmonize best, we first blend the wines in preliminary trials, and then complete the final cuvée. We use revitalized barrique barrels for the aging of the wines.
